Solstice : Lift

It Happened! and now we have the whole structure on the roof. we are now taking a break and will eventually be working on putting the plastic back over the greenhouse. that will probably happen tomorrow. we will also each plant a seed in a little pot and start off the winter with an experiment to see how well sealed it will be. and test for temperatures too...
here are some pics will post more later...

Solstice : Lift

This event will mark the first of events conceived to mark time: We are entering a new phase, A transition towards severity and we must haul through this together. 611 Output will carry our symbol of growth to 611 on Saturday morning. Ryan designed a pulley which will be built on Friday morning 8am. Saturday Morning we seize the greenhouse and lift it to the roof followed by ceremonious glee and recognition of community.

are images documenting the building of the crane that will carry the green house back to the roof.

Winter : Shelter : Ritual

This is a project that me and Jana Kang have been conceiving for a while and are finally putting it together before this winter starts. The main Idea behind it is to create a seasonal shelter that changes in ways to help us deal with the changes of the weather. Much like a tradition or a religion, this project should act as a way for coming to grips with the changes around us in the physical world and creating a symbolic and functional monument.
Here are some shots taken by Jacopo Quaranta, Thomas Curcuruto and I during the first stages of building.

What's Going on!

Hey All!
It's Brianna!
I wanted to let you all know some of the collaborations that have been happening in 611.
Michael and I will be collaborating for the first time in the 'actual' tomorrow:We shoot an improvised situation in Wall Street. Then we head to St. Teresa's ( our neighbor ) to photograph a charcoal rubbing in the bell-tower. The bell-tower is apart of a series I am working on for the group show -Scape , happening at LaunchPad December 8th. Below is an image of one of the drawings happening atop a water tower I climbed in Bushwick. I scale the texture to try to understand/map the out-of-reach, alien, and complicated. The images of the actual drawings will be posted soon!
